How to Craft the Perfect Brand Identity

To be successful in business and for anyone to know who you are you’re going to need a brand, but a brand is so much more than just a logo or a name, so much more, over the next few blogs we will explore what it takes to create a brand. We will outline all the key steps you need to take to create your brand.

What is a brand?

Put simply it’s a recognisable name or image. However a successful brand communicates itself in such a way that one finds an affiliation with it, and that engenders loyalty and in turn profit. Your creating not just a look but a personality as well.

How do I create a brand?

You’ll need to take some time out and do some groundwork on what/who you want your brand to be represent, don’t skip this or undervalue the importance of getting this part of setting your business up, it will become the foundation on which all else stands, it doesn’t mean it can’t evolve over time but it does need to be a solid base. 

Remember the big brands, any that you can call to mind, will have spent millions of £pounds and thousands of hours creating what you see to today, because they know it is well worth the time, effort and money to get it right. Whilst you might not have the same budgets and resources that they have, the reality is the principles of creating a brand are the same for all, and with a bit of time and effort are also accessible to all. 

Brands can be personal, corporate or anything in between, so don’t limit yourself.

Start to consider the ways in which you’d like your brand to be described… is it fun? Serious? Purposeful? Take a blank sheet of paper and list out all the words that you’d like others to say about your brand.

Who are you trying to attract?

Another important step is to define ‘who your person is’. Where can they be found? What do they like to do? Understanding them means you can articulate your brand in a way that makes sense to the people you are trying to attract. So, spend some time thinking this over too. It’ll make all the difference when it comes to pulling together your marketing plans.
